Which Wines Are Included

Sordo Verduno Pelaverga 2020
Sordo Verduno’s Pelaverga is a funky light Italian red wine. Aromas of blossom, red fruits, and spicy pepper, refreshing acidity, lighter tannins, ripe red fruits (redcurrant and cherry), white pepper and spiciness. This is a wonderful Italian red wine.

Carles Andreu 12@ Trepat 2019
A wonderful lighter-bodied red wine with an aromatic nose of red fruits and a delicious meatiness. With its balance of refreshing mouth-watering acidity, fine tannins, moderate alcohol, palate of fresh red cherries and plums, with savoury notes, this Spanish red is a real find.

Chateau Penin Les Cailloux 2018
This wonderful wine has ripe intense fruit, plum, blackberry and blueberry with vanilla and toast from 12 months in French oak barrels. Smooth and rich with good tannic and acidic structure makes this wine suitable for ageing for a further 5 years. Great depth of flavour and complexity, with a long finish.

This limited-edition wine box features two unusual grape varieties. Sordo’s Verduno Pelaverga is made from Pelaverga Piccolo, an ancient indigenous grape variety from Verduno in northwest Italy. Although production is limited, it makes a funky red wine and popularity is growing fast. Carles Andreu’s 12@ is made from Trepat, a red Catalan grape variety, believed to be indigenous to the north-eastern Iberian Peninsula. Although mostly used as part of a blend to make light rosé wines and sparkling rosé Cavas, as a red wine it makes deliciously lighter-bodied, refreshing reds. In contrast Chateau Penin’s Les Cailloux is a rich complex red wine. Although made from a familiar grape variety, Merlot, this is not your usual Merlot. This has amazing depth of flavour and structure and is a real foodie classic.
