Tasting Note
Outstanding red Portuguese wine from the Dao region, home of some of Portugal’s best red wines.
Dao is the birthplace of Portugal’s foremost red grape, Touriga Nacional, which drives this complex outstanding wine.
Garnet in colour (it is 15 years old after all), rich with black fruits, dried fruits, chocolate, coffee, tobacco, bacon, and leather. It has high alcohol (14.5%) but this is beautifully balanced by the high acidity, smooth tannins and intense flavours.
Food Pairing
A wine to pair with deliciously rich and flavoursome foods.
As well as all types of steak, beef and venison, its dried fruit character would pair beautifully with pork, ham, charcuterie, and lamb tagine. It has the depth of flavour for rich sauces.
For Veggie & Vegan dishes, this is the wine for those intense savoury flavours like beetroot, cooked mushrooms, roasts, and rich stews.
An ideal wine for a special occasion.
